In Action

Thomas Miller (Isle of Man) Ltd is proud of the Isle of Man and its community. 2010 is the 125th anniversary of the Thomas Miller Group and to mark the occasion we have made an extra effort to support organisations which play a vital role in our community.

Matt Dawson MBE coaches young rugby union players during his visit to the Isle of Man as part of Thomas Miller Group’s 125th anniversary celebrations.

We held a day of celebrations in June featuring three special guests – England Rugby Union World Cup winner and TV personality Matt Dawson MBE and Strictly Come Dancing stars Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova. During their visit Matt held a coaching session for young rugby players while Darren and Lilia took a salsa dancing master class. All three were present
at a gala dinner held in the Royal Hall at the Villa Marina.

But the event was not just a celebration, it also raised funds for The Children’s Centre which is the focus of our charity fundraising in 2010.

Ian Jarrett, Chairman of Thomas Miller (Isle of Man) Limited, receives the Isle of Man Champion certificate from Chief Minister Tony Brown MHK.

The money raised from the dinner enabled Thomas Miller (Isle of Man) Limited to donate £25,000 to The Children’s Centre Out2Play mobile play scheme which included £14,500 used to buy a minibus for the scheme and £10,500 to cover the costs of running the scheme. The Children’s Centre makes a valuable contribution to everyday life on the Island by helping children and their families. In particular, the Out2Play scheme illustrates how the centre reaches out to communities across the Isle of Man.

Thomas Miller have also donated a further £15,000, matching what was raised at the Charity auction and raffle, to The Children’s Centre which will be allocated to specific projects in the last quarter of 2010.

Michael Primary School headteacher Tony Robinson, centre, receives a cheque for £1,800 from Thomas Miller (IoM) Ltd.

Thomas Miller (Isle of Man) Ltd recently donated £1,800 towards the cost of a glass domed classroom at Michael Primary School, Kirk Michael. The Solardome is a geodesic glass dome which allows children to take part in classes outside of the main school building while still being protected from the weather.
