We want to create an Age Friendly society which gives older people in the Isle of Man freedom to flourish.
Age Concern Isle of Man is a registered charity with Lady Haddacks as Patron. It has been in the Isle of Man since 1992 and the appointment of Penny Creighton as Chief Executive in 2006 heralded major progress in the empowerment of and recognition for older people on the island.
For the past 30 years getting older has largely been seen as a negative – something to be avoided at all costs. At Age Concern IOM we don’t see it that way. We see age as experience, getting older as something to be celebrated and ageing as a natural part of life.
In the Isle of Man there are now twice as many over 65s as teens. This generation has more than half of the wealth of the country and over 45% of the vote, older people often feel they have no voice and little influence. Which is why, as the Isle of Mans leading age charity we want to work with older people to influence later life policy, use our local knowledge and reach to help those people that need it most and campaign to create a far more positive view of later life.
he 40 staff and over 100 volunteers of Age Concern Isle of Man are committed to our work on the Island and to continually raising funds, as we receives no funding from Age Concern UK.

We sought to join the IOM Champion’s scheme because we and our clients actively live the values of ‘Freedom to Flourish’ every day.
We at Age Concern align ourselves with the three core strands of the Freedom to Flourish strategy, all of which are implemented in everything we do.
