Manufacturing and Technical Industries

As a member of the Manufacturing and Technical Industries Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, Swagelok is a keen supporter of projects aimed at sustaining economic growth and quality of island life. By participating in initiatives such as the Waste Management project we play an important role in developing strategic thinking that will impact future policy.

Engineers from our company are active committee members of the Isle of Man Aerospace Cluster (IOMAC). This concept, lead by the IOM Department of Trade & Industry and the Chamber of Commerce aims to develop business benefits for the local aerospace manufacturing sector. In September 2008 the group will launch an Isle of Man Engineering Apprenticeship scheme in partnership with the local college. The aim of the scheme is to focus the development of young people on skills needed to sustain growth of this dynamic manufacturing sector on the Island.

As part of the Engineering Sector Skills Group we develop initiatives aimed at promoting opportunities in the Engineering Sector on the island. The ACE Project is currently working closely with local schools and is focused on raising the profile of Engineering as a viable, rewarding, long term career option.

Swagelok is also committed to developing the image of the Isle of Man as a fantastic place to live and work. Renowned for its abundance of sporting activities and cultural pursuits, Swagelok aims to help strengthen this position by sponsoring the Isle of Man swimming team and providing support for the annual Parish Walk.
