Energy Doctor

Age Concern Isle of Man has joined forces with the Department of Local Government and the Environment to help households reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions. The charity has appointed an Energy Doctor to offer practical advice on energy use to consumers in a move to help raise energy conservation awareness, reduce fuel bills and increase comfort levels in the home. Funded by the Isle of Man Government’s Energy Initiatives Fund and delivered by Age Concern, the Energy Doctor service, which includes installation of a number of energy-saving devices, will be provided free of charge. Digital inclusion

'Silver surfers' at Age Concern Isle of Man’s lifelong learning centres are set to benefit from a Freedom to Flourish initiative, thanks to the programme’s Isle of Man Champions funding the purchase of 10 laptops. Freedom to Flourish marketing consultant Alistair Audsley said: ‘This is yet another example of the Isle of Man Champions translating the Freedom to Flourish vision into a practical reality – in this case by supporting digital inclusion for the over-50s and making a palpable difference by giving them the tools to help them improve their skills and satisfy the demands of today’s increasingly challenging workplace.’…

The Tell Me Project

“Hugh Davidson, Chair of the H & S Davidson Trust, gave a presentation on “The Tell Me Project”, at the request of the Institute of Philanthropy, to a group of 22 philanthropists, at the Rockefeller Foundation in New York, on 29th January 2009. Most, some from significant Foundations, were from USA and Canada, a few from the UK and Asian countries.
